Honor Band - Britni Hummel
Britni Hummel is the Director of Bands at Cedar Park Middle School in Leander ISD located in Cedar Park, Texas, and currently in her fourteenth year of teaching.
Mrs. Hummel began her teaching career at Cedar Park Middle School as the primary conductor of Concert Winds, before becoming the Director of Bands in 2017. During her time at Cedar Park Middle School her bands have received consistent UIL Sweepstakes and Best in Class Honors at festivals. She guest conducted the Cedar Park Middle School Saxophone Ensemble at their Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic’s performance in 2011. The Cedar Park Middle School Band was also recognized as the Texas Bandmasters Association’s Exemplary Band Program in 2015. In addition, Cedar Park Middle School’s Symphonic Band has been a consistent National Wind Band Honors Mark of Excellence winner since 2008. Most recently, the program at Cedar Park MS was selected to perform at the 2019 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic and placed second in the 2023 TMEA CCC Honor Band Process.
Prior to teaching, Mrs. Hummel received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. While there, Mrs. Hummel was a member of the Wind Ensemble, serving as principal clarinetist for three years, and also served as drum major of the Bobcat Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Caroline Beatty. At Texas State, Mrs. Hummel was inducted as a member of Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society, and also received the Presser Foundation Scholarship from the School of Music. The Texas Bandmasters Association selected her as the Malcolm Helm Endowed Scholarship Recipient. She was also chosen to represent the Who’s Who among Colleges and Universities at Texas State. In her final semester, she was nominated for the upper-level Presidential Scholarship before graduating Sum Cum Laude.
Mrs. Hummel lives in Leander, Texas with her husband David and her dog Dixie. She enjoys performing with the Cedar Park Winds Community Band, comprised of directors and teachers from the greater Austin Area. She has worked as a director at both the Texas State University and Baylor University Summer Band Camps. Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association and the Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Mu. Mrs. Hummel also serves as the Region 32 Middle School Band Treasurer.
Symphonic Band - Andy Post
Andy Post, now in his 10th year as YOSA Wind Ensemble conductor and 30th year as a music educator, earned his Bachelor’s of Music Education and Music Performance in Trombone from Baylor University. He studied conducting with Michael Haithcock and trombone with David Gier. Post has been awarded Teacher of the Year, Trinity Prize Winner for NEISD, PTA Lifetime Award, Who's Who of American Teachers, Outstanding Young Men of America, and nominated for Disney National Teacher of the Year. His bands consistently earned Sweepstakes at UIL and have been recognized at the Region, Area, and State levels by Texas Music Educators Association and nationally by Choice Music National Wind Band Competition.
Post is a member of the international honorary band fraternity Phi Beta Mu, Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), and Texas Music Adjudicators Association (TMAA). Mr. Post has retired from public school teaching and is an active consultant, clinician, mentor, private instructor, and adjudicator. He is also a P.A. Announcer for North East ISD Athletics. Post resides in San Antonio with his wife, Julie, who is the YOSA Repertory Strings conductor and recently retired from a long, successful tenure as a public school orchestra director. They have two boys, Tyler, a recent graduate and 5 year starter as a college baseball player and math major at Texas Lutheran University, and Ryan, a YOSA alum, now in his 3rd year studying cello performance at the esteemed Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
The Post Family loves to travel and has attended MLB games in all 30 stadiums. Mr. Post also had a successful heart transplant in 2014 and knows that every day is a gift. #LivingForTwo
